Arrival of New Weyrlingmaster

Writers: Ames
Date Posted: 31st May 2013

Characters: H'vack
Description: The new Weyrlingmaster arrives just before the Turn's End and Turn's Beginning celebrations
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 13, day 13 of Turn 6

Rilarth broke through the skies over River Bluff Weyr. H'vack, atop
his back, took in the view from the sky. He'd been here before, but
not for some time.

Rilarth announced their presence to the watch dragon on duty and the
pair started the glide down to the Bowl. He'd already made
arrangements for his personal weyr and knew where to go. He knew that
when he arrived the festivities for the Turn's End and Turn's
Beginning would be starting, so he'd prepared ahead of time.

In a matter of moments, the bronze dragon and his rider were on the
ground. His weyr wasn't far from the candidate and weyrling barracks,
which was exactly what he wanted.

H'vack greeted a few people as he began to unhitch the bags that had
been strapped to Rilarth's saddle.

Carrying the bundles, he moved them from the ledge into their new
weyr. The room had been prepared. He smiled to himself at that. They
had done a nice job getting things in order. The room was rather
bland, but it would soon take on a life of it's own as he added his
own personal touches to it.

Reaching into his pack, he pulled out one of his most prized
possessions. It was a small metal dragon statue inset with various
blue, gold, green, and bronze gems. It had been one of his first
completed works of art in his craft. It was crudely made, and he'd
done many other dragon likenesses over the Turns, but this one, being
his first, held a special place in his heart. It reminded him of where
he'd begun and how far he had come.

Moving back to the ledge, he stood beside his massive bronze.

"Well, Rilarth, this is home now. Best finish getting settled and get
to know the locals." He chuckled to himself and heard the bronze do
the same. H'vack was stern most of the time. He'd even been called
unfeeling by quite a few, but that was simply because they didn't
_really_ know him. No one really did, because he almost never let
them.

His thoughts drifted back to one time he _did_ let his true self be
shared. He had fond, but sad memories of that time and since then he'd
grown even more guarded with his feelings and emotions around others.

Work. Work was what kept him going. He strove for the best at all
times, and he wouldn't accept anything less from his weyrlings either!
