Description: The boys congratulate each other after the Hatching
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 13, day 24 of Turn 6

Rademerth kept demanding food and J'kri didn't know how something so
small could eat so much. Thankfully the meat was already chopped, so
all he had to do was feed it to the hatchling and warn him to slow
down so he wouldn't choke. Every few pieces, J'kri glanced toward the
entrance, looking to see who else was coming out with a new lifemate.
The cheers from inside rose and fell like waves as people Impressed.

It took much longer to get Petrith over to the food tables than D'ret
anticipated. At first, the little green was more than happy to follow
her lifemate but then a trundlebug flew by and she stopped with a
startled yelp ... then refused to move. Even with the prospect of
filling her belly, he couldn't get her to move. So, the petite
weyrling hefted her into his arms and made his way to Jykri.

Petrith buried her head under her wing and shook as they went into the
loud, chaotic mess of weyrlings. }: I can't do this, Mine. I can't.
What you tell me is too scary! I'm supposed to eat ... what if I
choke? :{

D'ret sighed and only the site of his best friend and the blue cheered him up.

}: Now you don't like me! :{

"I do too like you now stop that. Come here and talk to your brother
while you eat," D'ret answered with a roll of his eyes as he settled
the pale little green next to the blue. "Shells, it's good to see
you," he whispered to the boy, the look of longing he tried to hide
clear in his blue eyes.

The green kept her wing over her head but the smell of the meat was
incredibly enticing. }: So ... what's this chewing all about? :{

J'kri dropped the meat pail. "Daret!" He pulled his friend into a hug.
"You did it! I was so worried."

}:Foolishness that slows down eating. But my rider says I must,:{
Rademerth told the green. He stuck his head in the fallen pail and
gobbled another piece of meat.

D'ret hugged him back tightly and grinned. "I honestly didn't think I
would. She was the last one ... the last!" he said then gave J'kri a
quick kiss on the cheek before pulling away. The last thing they
needed was to get yelled at by one of the weyrlingmasters.

}: What happens if you don't? Do you choke? :{ Petrith asked as she
lifted her wing just a bit to stare at her brother. Her nose twitched
at the smell that was getting more and more interesting.

"Rademerth!" J'kri snatched up the pail. "Slow down."

The blue licked his muzzle. }:He says I will.:{ Rademerth looked at
his sister. }:Isn't yours going to feed you?:{ He opened his mouth as
J'kri fed him another chunk of meat.

Seeing J'kri snatch the pail reminded him that he needed to start
feeding Petrith. That the green wasn't demanding it seemed a bit odd
to him so when he was given some meat, he crouched down to get the
little green's attention. "Take a piece, lovely," he urged, holding
out a chunk.

Petrith glanced between her brother and her lifemate, the urge to eat
strong in her rapidly whirling yellowish red eyes. }: I am hungry :{
she said then tentatively accepted the piece. It was delicious! She
was still crouched down with a wing over her head but she carefully
swallowed and opened her mouth for another.

"That's my girl," D'ret said with a warm smile, completely engrossed
in the concept of feeding another without an ounce of sexual innuendo.
"J'kri ... it's ... so amazing!"

"I know," J'kri said with a dazed smile. "Do you feel her hunger? It's
so strange." He could feel Rademerth's hunger finally starting to
fade.

"Oh yes," D'ret said then chuckled as Petrith began to eat faster, now
that she wasn't afraid of the meat. "Tell me about Rademerth ... does
he have some of your traits?"

"Maybe if he stops demanding food I'll be able to figure that out." He
gave the blue another piece of meat.

D'ret chuckled then gasped as Petrith reached out and grabbed the
bucket from his hands. "Petrith, what are you doing?!"

}: Hungry and ... you are ... not fast ... enough! :{ she answered
between bites then squawked when D'ret took it back again. }: Did you
see that, Rademerth? :{

"Stop it, Pet. You can't eat that fast." He looked at J'kri and
shook his head. "I'm in SO much trouble ..."

}:Yes. Now you are eating like you should,:{ the blue said.

"I think we both are."J'kri laughed.
