The last of the new babes were long asleep, Gislen's tiny green
finally down despite her upset stomach. G'wen sighed mightily,
thinking about the troubles they were gong to have with the spoiled
Holder girl and her insistence on overfeeding her new dragonet. If the
size of her brown flit was anything to go by, the Weyrling staff was
in for a very long spring ahead.

Well, stressing about it wasn't getting him back into his own weyr for
the night. He could feel Neath chuckle at his thoughts as he sped up
to look over the boy's barracks quickly. As he peaked in all were
asleep.

All but one, that is.

J'kri had gone to bed, but he had to get up and check on Rademerth one
more time. Just to make sure the dragon was real, and really there.
J'kri knelt by the sleeping blue and rubbed his head.

"Hey J'kri, how's he doing?" G'wen knelt alongside the little blue as well.

"Good." He glanced up at G'wen with a smile. "Strange."

"Well yeah." G'wen snorted and laughed inter his breath. "The stranger
thing is how quickly it becomes the norm for you."

"Like living at the Weyr." J'kri nodded. Rademerth shifted slightly in
his sleep and J'kri looked at him with utter tenderness.

"Hmm...you've seen D'ret yet?"

"I saw him right away. It's so great that we get to be weyrlings
together." Especially since it meant D'ret wouldn't leave.

G'wen just smiled and nodded to the blue. "Is he okay? Any problems?"
He hadn't been able to see much of the little blue yet.

"He eats a lot, but I guess that's normal. I hope he doesn't get fat."
That could make things awkward when they started flying.

"He won't get fat, trust me. Maybe he's just going to be large for his
size." G'wen leaned over and tapped J'rki on the arm. "Neath was the
same way. She ate twice the amount of the next green and look at how
tall she is now. Obviously she knew something I didn't. He's probably
the same way."

"Which means I'll have more of him to wash," J'kri said with a smile.

"But of course!" G'wen smiled down at the currently tiny blue.

"But whatever happens, he's mine and he's wonderful." J'kri turned an
adoring gaze on his dragon.

"That he is." G'wen straightened his knees and stretched. "I think
I'll leave you to it then."

"Alright." J'kri stroked his blue's head again. It was still hard to
believe that the little dragon was his.
