The day was good, thought K'sedel. Sunny, and pleasantly warm. A smile crossed his face as he walked across the weyrbowl to get a little exercise.
Suddenly, a caressing touch slid across his waist and a woman's lips brushed against his neck gently.
"Ciara?" he said, reaching out to pull her close. "What brings you here today?"
"I was looking for you," she murmured, glancing up at him with a smile.
"Elli said you were out here..."
"We can't keep anything from them, can we?" he teased, glancing up to the heights where his own bronze lay, soaking up the sun. "Permanently watching out for us."
"Mmm-hmm. But this way, I can keep tabs on you," she grinned before impishly kissing his cheek.
"Do you need to?" he teased.
"That depends on you, Weyrleader," she laughed.
"Oh I'm very dependable, my mother said so," he said, keeping his tone light and his face straight. "One of these days I'll show you just how dependable I am."
"Hmmm..." She squeezed his side gently. "It's your birthingday today, no?"
"All day," he replied. He hadn't really intended to make a fuss, after all it was no big deal. Not like he was a small boy anymore. His grandchildren yes, they might still make and expect a fuss; however may it was time that changed.
"Come to my weyr tonight for dinner then?"
"Now that does sound like a good idea. It might be nice to have some time together, a private celebration." Sometimes he felt as though he needed that, a bit of time to himself.
She lightly kissed his cheek. "Good."
"Any special time you want me there?"
"Just as soon as you want to come." It was apparent by the tone in her voice that she wouldn't mind at all if he wanted to come even earlier...
"Well, I have some reports to write, they'll not take all day though.
And a brief meeting with my Wingleaders, there's fall in two days time."
"When you can, K'sedel," Ciara smiled.
