G'wen all but skipped up the familiar steps to Teseada's weyr. "Tes! Tes,
guess what? I'm now 'officially' part of the queen's wing!" This meant
hanging out with his three best friends, this meant getting out from under
E'naer's feet all the bloody time and all the oddness that that entailed. It
also meant doing_finally_what he and Neath were bred to do, fight Thread.
His head sang with joy.
He stopped when he saw that the front room was empty. "Tes? Tes, where are
you? Did you hear? I'm joining your wing!"
It was then that he heard the sound of someone being sick in the bath
chamber.
Teseada stuck her head out after a moment. "Sorry, something I ate. I tried
that new spicy stew last night and I don't think it agreed with my stomach."
"Oh?" He moved causiously in her direction. People being sick was never
something he was comfortable with. Just the smell alone made him feel like
he might join them. "I had dinner with E'naer in our weyr," it was still so
odd saying 'our' weyr and not 'his,' "so I didn't try it?"
"How's that going?"
"Good, great! Better than I never dreamed it would." He raised an eyebrow
when he got full sight of his friend. "You_sure_you're okay? You're grey."
"I'll be okay after I've sat down for a bit."
"And what have you been doing in there, dancing a jig?" He crossed his arms
at her.
"It's just an upset stomach," Teseada said. "Nothing to worry about."
G'wen was ready to nod and forget about it when he spied her waistline.
"Riiiiight it's nothing to worry about." The other eyebrow shot up.
"It's a bit of weight from when we were grounded. I'm back to normal now
and it'll come off in a sevenday or so. Just like last time."
He nodded but the look in his eye said she wasn't buying it. "Did you hear
me? I'm joining your wing."
"I heard," she grinned. "Can you manage to behave during drills? Or will
Genith have to stamp on you?"
"Me? Or Neath?" He batted his big brown eyes, doing his best to look
innocent.
"Both of you if you look at her like that!"
He rolled his eyes and flopped on the bed. "Wanna girls night in? There's
some really yummy sweets just in the ovens."
"That could be a plan, and I have some gossip to share as well..."
"Gossip? Can it wait or are you bursting to tell?" G'wen patted the furs
beside him.
"You get me one of those pastries and I'll tell you all about where I'zek
was found, and who with."
"That's a date! Be right back!"
