Watching Over You

Writers: Ames, Chelle
Date Posted: 10th November 2013

Characters: Relik, Kantar
Description: The Hallmaster checks up on some of the building.
Location: Seacraft Hall
Date: month 4, day 5 of Turn 7

His eyes went up at the structure that would become the watchtower.
The drums would be there as well as the lantern. Relik didn't want to
take any chances and he knew the smiths were working on the glass
and everything needed for the light. The light would have to be on always
when it was dark. Wiping his forehead since it was quite warm, he saw
an approaching woodcrafter and nodded.

Kantar saw the Hallmaster and approached. "Sir," he said with a nod.
"The building is coming along well."

"Good! Any problems with the glass panels?" That would be the most
difficult part to his way of thinking.

"They were not easy to install, sir, but so far all is going well.
It's taken more men and more time than we expected to get them exactly
right, but I think you will be well pleased with the final result,"

Kantar replied. He, himself, was very proud of the progress they had
made. "The next big task will be aligning them perfectly into the
space up there. It will be challenging. We should be ready to begin
that process soon. When we do it would be best if the area was kept
completely clear in case something were to fall."

"I fully understand. Just give me a heads up and I can put out a
notice." Shading his eyes with his hand, he tried to imagine it finished.
"Just make sure the observation deck is solid." In this part of the south,
bad weather was sometimes a given and Relik knew it had to hold up.

"Yes, sir," Kantar replied. "We've already planned to fortify that
area with extra beams and a stronger wall facing towards the sea so
that the weather should not be able to easily damage the area. Have
you seen the plans for the finished deck? I know they made some
changes to them. I have them right over here if you'd like to look at
them." Kantar pointed to a table inside a small tent that was used as
the woodworker's main office area while they were working on the site.

Relik nodded to him and followed the man inside. He would be glad when
everything was done and he could get all of these people gone. He just wanted
his people walking around, people he could trust.

Kantar led Relik towards a table that had hides strewn on it. Right in
the center were the plans for the Hall with the most recent updates.

"Here, take a look at this. I know they made some changes, here, and
here," he pointed to a few spots. He looked to the new Hallmaster
waiting to see if he had anything to say about the changes.

"The curved staircase being wider is probably a fine idea. The bulkhead
here, though, is unnecessary. The space is better used open." Being
on a boat made a sailor want open, wide spaces when he was on land.

"Alright," Kantar replied. "I'll make a note of that and talk to the
Master about some changes there. Otherwise, all else is to your
liking?" He looked to the new Hallmaster with a raised eyebrow.

"So far. Seems solid and according to the specifications sent." Relik
would be happy with that, but he'd still be watching as it took shape.

Kantar replied, "Great. I am glad you seem satisfied with the plans. I
should get back to work. You're welcome to stay and watch if you'd
like, but I'm sure you have other things to do as well."
