Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 3, day 19 of Turn 7

}: Rademerth...where are ya at?:{ Camilth hop-skipped around the
barracks, her little green head up and her eyes alert. }: I need to
tell you something! It's important! Where are you? You better not be
sleeping again. I _will_ pounce on you. Hey! WAKE UP!:{

The blue gave a sleepy rumble and opened one eye. }:What is so important?:{

The bright little green bounded over to the blue and hopped up on his
ledge, sprawling nearly on top of him. }: Get yours. :{ She nudged at
him and in a loud mental whisper, continued. }: Mine has a hatching
day today. Does Yours know? The Healer already gave her a gift a
couple of days ago.:{

}:Hatching day? Gifts?:{ Rademerth perked up. }:Were we supposed to
get gifts when we hatched?:{

}: We did, silly. We got our riders.:{ She nudged at him again and
then purposefully pulled at his tail to try to get him off of his
couch. }: Up, up, you silly blue! :{

}:Are we supposed to give your rider a gift? She already has you.:{
Rademerth said as he stood and stretched.

}: I think so. The healer did. I know she has me, but she was my
hatching day present, wasn't she? She said she didn't need anything,
but she's kinda wistful. Said her family never did much for it and she
always wished they did. So we should. Wake Yours up.:{

}:Wake up,:{ Rademerth told his rider. }:Camilth says we need to give
a gift to hers.:{

"What?" J'kri asked with his eyes still closed. He was barely awake
and the words didn't make sense.

The blue sat near the cot, looming over it at his current size. }:We
need to give a gift to Camilth's rider. It's her hatching day.:{

**Hatching?** J'kri blinked and rubbed his eyes. **Oh! You mean her
birthingday.** Paetri hadn't mentioned anything.

Camilth peered down at J'kri, her eyes gently whirling as her head
tilted from side to side. Taking intiative, she griped his blanket in
her teeth and tugged it off, then held it up high while her tail
twitched with good humor. }:His hair is all sticking up. It's funny.:{

**Faranth save me from young dragons.** J'kri slid out of bed and
grabbed for the blanket. "Give that back."

}:He always looks like that when he wakes up. Humans are strange,:{
Rademerth said.

Giving draconic chortles muffled by a mouth full of blanket, Camilth
pranced away towards Paetri's cot and her own little wallow. }: He has
to get it first.:{ Pleased with herself, she flicked her tail towards
J'kri with a mocking little flip.

Paetri looked up to see Camilth playfully hop-skipping over to their
cot with a...blanket? She blinked. **Where did you get that?**

Camilth preened and then with a proud strut, dropped the blanket on
Paetri's head. }: It's your Hatching day present. :{ She puffed up her
chest. }:At least...it is for now.:{

"Camilth says it's your birthingday. You didn't tell me!." J'kri took
the blanket off the poor girl's head.

"Oh.." She tugged on her braid. "Well, no...I didn't. I didn't want
you to think you had to do anything." She sighed and looked up at
Camilth, who was eyeing the blanket with a glint of mischief in her
eyes. "She tattled, didn't she?"

"Yes." J'kri laughed as he tucked the blanket under his arm. "And she
got my fat blue to wake me up and tell me. They insist I should give
you a present."

Camilth eyed J'kri and snorted before sidling around, her eyes
remaining locked on the blanket. Paetri translated. "Camilth doesn't
think Rademerth is fat at all. But she does think your hair is
sticking up funny." She tried to keep her face straight, but her eyes
flicked up to his hair and her lips trembled with the force of keeping
in her laughter. Finally giving bubbling up with laughter, she shook
her head. "No, you don't have to."

She paused then reached under her pillow. "But look what W'ser gave
me!" She pulled out the craft patch and held it up. "He said that I
could put it on my flight jacket."

"Wow, that's nice." He admired the patch while using a hand to try and
smooth down his hair. It would be pretty much hopeless until he had a
bath. "And I _want_ to get you something. You're one of my best
friends." He had to figure out what to do with limited marks and short
notice.

Paetri grinned up at him and tucked the patch away. "And you are one
of mine, you silly man. I can't get you much, so you shouldn't feel
the need to get me anything."

Camilth eyed J'kri's hair and tilted her head side to side as she
examined it. Before Paetri could open her mouth to stop her, the green
decided to lend her own brand of help in J'kri's grooming attempts.
With a long tongue, she swiped at his hair and attempted to plaster
down his hair with a goodly amount of draconic drool.

Paetri couldn't help it. She burst out laughing, falling back on her
bed and half kicking her feet in mirth.

J'kri's face scrunched up in disgust as Camilth's tongue soaked his head. "Ugh!"

}:Hmm. I don't think that helped,:{ Rademerth observed.

For a moment J'kri just stood there, not sure what to do. Paetri kept
laughing, and suddenly he had an idea. He tackled her, rubbing his wet
hair on her shirt. "It's _your_ dragon's spit!"

}: Well, I think it looks much better. It's not sticking up anymore.
:{ Camilth replied, smug.

Paetri squealed as J'kri tackled her. "No! Back!" Laughter in her
voice, her nose wrinkled as drool was smeared on her shirt. She batted
at his shoulders, "Yuck, J'kri! It's not my fault that.. Eww! She was
just trying to help!"

"And I'm just sharing." He leaned back with a grin.

Rademerth yawned. }:I am hungry.:{ He headed for the door, glad he
didn't have to wait for his rider to feed him anymore.

Paetri pulled her now drool smeared shirt away from her stomach.
"Thanks..." She giggled. "Now I have to take another bath." She
rolled off of her cot and looked at him, tilted her head. "Now you
hair is sticking up even worse..." Sticking out her tongue, she darted
for the bathing pools.

Shaking his head, J'kri followed his dragon and his friend out of the barracks.
