She'd been carefully shuffled to the Dining Cavern where she could
eat, relax, and get her bearings. After visiting with Cyradis and filling
her gut, she'd decided it would be good to take a nap. Unfortunately, Rhosyn
was unsure. Should she go to N'vanik's weyr? Talryne would be there.
Or should she ask the Headwoman? Cyradis had K'deren in hers. That left R'enh.
"Oh, good. You're still here," N'vanik said as he got back to the
dining cavern. The conversation with Tal had been uncomfortable, but
she understood. "The weyr in the hatching cavern is ready. You'll have
a quiet place to relax without worrying about getting up and down a
bunch of stairs."
Looking up from where she'd been nursing a cup of water, Rhosyn didn't
mention that she'd had a chat with Cyradis. As it was, she was just listening
to what he was saying, trying not to let her tiredness overcome her. "Okay.."
Getting up slowly, she didn't bother with the drink, instead trying to orient herself
as to where the Hatching Cavern was. She looked slightly confused-a normal thing
when she was tired.
N'vanik slid an arm around her waist and nudged her toward the door.
"This way." She looked like she was ready to be tucked into bed.
Leaning into him, she followed without any words. She just watched the other
people they passed and paid attention to the turns. Otherwise-how would she
know where to go to leave? When they made it there, she settled easily-throwing
off her hastily-donned flightgear and rolling into the bed. Rhosyn stifled a yawn.
"Maybe just a few candlemarks..." The time change was an issue at times as well.
N'vanik sat on the edge of the bed. "Rest up. We'll make sure you get
everything you need." It was nice to be able to take care of her.
"Okay." Reaching for him, she yawned again and closed her eyes, her
plait stringing out behind her on the pillows. Her belly made a large
mound in the sheets and she laid on her back, unable to sleep any other way.
Usually, she adjusted the pillows, but this time she just closed her eyes.
He shifted to lie next to her. The next few candlemarks were as
cleared up as he could make them so he could spend the time with her.
Indulging in a nap didn't sound bad. N'vanik kissed her cheek and
spent a moment looking at her, studying her face.
It didn't take long before Rhosyn was rested. She was a deep sleeper and
had always been. When she was ready, she moved and got up, immediately
looking for the latrine. **Please let me make it** When that was done, she
breathed a sigh of relief and came back in to note that N'vanik was still there.
"Hmmm I suppose I could go back now....I mean they'll be celebrating and all that."
Something about it..being here with him-knowing Talryne was nearby-suddenly felt
awkward. She had done it before but..it was different.
"Do you need me to come with you?" he asked as he stretched. Although
he liked the chance to take care of her, he was annoyed that no one at
River Bluff had jumped in to help her when she needed it.
"You don't have to...but if you want to, you can." She thought about the process
of getting down, though now that she had time she could do it slowly herself.
With the day as it was, Rhosyn was no longer hungry but she knew she should
show her face so everyone knew she was okay if anyone had noticed what had
happened.
"Are you sure you have enough support at River Bluff? I could lend you
some of my people." Anything to make sure she was taken care of.
"Some of your people who?" She wondered what he had in mind, though she had
no intent of taking any of his people. She had enough of her own to deal with.
Besides, Rhosyn sometimes preferred not to have people underfoot. She didn't
want people-she wanted him-but she didn't say that. **Why did he have to be
Weyrleader again?**
"I can't spare anyone from the fighting wings, but I could get you a
retired rider, or one too young for the wings. A healer, an assistant,
anything you need." N'vanik didn't want her in another situation where
she needed help and didn't have it.
"N'vanik I have weyrlings. I have a Master Healer. It's fine. I have candidates.
I have a Headwoman." **I don't have a weyrmate** She kept a smile on her
as much as to reassure him as herself. Rhosyn had to do this alone. She'd accepted
that long ago. "And anyway, I wouldn't know any of those people. I know mine."
"You called me from half a world away in a near panic. You didn't have
help when you needed it." He brushed a finger along her cheek. "I'd
stay with you myself if I could."
"Yes I did because you're the one I trust." She sighed, not wanting to belabor
the point since he couldn't be there. "Listen, you know you can't. I know you can't.
So let's just move on. I'm going to slowly go home while I can still get down from my
dragon and then I'll just think about being grounded. Perhaps." That was the other problem-
being grounded. And then Lenala-SHELLS!
"I'd give you R'enh if I could, but _I_ need him." He smiled a little,
though he was still worried. Didn't she have someone she trusted at
River Bluff?
"I know that too. And Sh'del. Hey I have U'das-even if he is half blind."
She laughed at that.
"If you _do_ need anything, let me know." He'd already shown he'd drop
everything if she called.
