"There you are!" Harki sprang up from her seat by the fire when Paetri
wandered into the common room, late for their meeting. Although it
wasn't so much of a meeting as telling the girl, via Camilth, that she
was expected. "Rorela's waiting for us in her weyr. You ready?"

Paetri looked at Harki, stopped, grabbed her braid and shook her head
rapidly. "No. No I'm not ready. I've changed my mind. I'm uh..I'm
gonna go now."

"Oh no you're not." Harki lunged and grabbed Paetri's elbow before the
girl could escape. She kept a firm grasp on it as she led the weyrling
towards the stairs that led to the higher weyrs. "Rorela's waiting,
and you wouldn't want to stand up a _Wingthird_ would you?"

"Oh, yes I am..." Paetri tugged back, but didn't succeed at escaping.
"Dragons are not supposed to trick their riders. Camilth knew about
this, didn't she?"

}: Cerilith knows what she is doing. She is older and wiser than
me.She even said so. :{ Camilth's voice was bubbling with glee.

**You are supposed to be on my side!**

}: I am. You need to mate and Rademerth's would _love_ to mate with you. :{

Sputtering, Paetri eyed Harki as she was tugged up the stairs. "What
has Cerilith been telling Camilth?"

"Nothing that isn't true." Harki paused, finally noticing how pale and
wide-eyed Paetri was. She stopped on the staircase. "Look, this is
supposed to be fun. Rorela and I won't do anything bad to you, I
promise. Greenriders stick together."

Exhaling, Paetri looked up the stairs. She didn't really think they
would hurt her, but what she preparing for was what scared her. But
J'kri wouldn't hurt her, not on purpose and she had said that she
needed their help. "Okay..." She licked her lower lip. "Just don't cut
my hair."

"Aww. You'd look good with short hair. But all right. No scissors."
Not that she had been considering it, but Harki felt as though Paetri
would be more comfortable if she were allowed to 'win' at something.

Harki's assumption was proven correct by the way Paetri stood a little
straighter and she nodded. "Okay then." She looked up the stairs. "Can
you at least tell me what Rorela is planning?"

"Not a clue! But it'll be good. Rorela knows a thing or two about a
thing or two." Harki winked. "If you know what I mean."

Blushing, Paetri followed Harki up the stairs. A blonde head poked out
of a door and peered out with a smile. "There you are...Upinth said
you were coming. Get in here! I have a surrrprrriiiise...."

"Is it booze? I really hope it's booze," Harki said to Paetri as she
propelled her into Rorela's weyr.

"I don't drink. " Paetri wrinkled her nose at the thought. " I really
don't like the taste. " She stepped into Rorela's open door and
gasped in surprise.

The wingthird did have three bottles of wine on her table, but there
were also fruits, crackers, and cheeses. Also laid out were several
bottles of scented oils and lotions, laquer for the fingernails
and...Paetri's eyes went to the pile of filmy clothes on the bed. All
of them were lacy, sheer or simply very, very, lacking in any material
at all.

"Operation get Paetri laid shall now commence! " Rorela appeared with
three glasses, a wide smile on her face.

"Excellent! THis is going to be a tasty operation." Harki snagged a
glass and pulled Paetri toward the table. "Sit!"

Rorela poured two glasses, handing one to Paetri and ignored her
murmur of denial and protest. "Oh hush. You need to relax." She poured
Harki's glass full and then sat down at the table. "Now. I have a
bathing pool, so we can get you all washed up, and..." She picked up
the oils and lotions. "get you smelling pretty." She grinned at Harki.
"I pulled out all the stops with the clothes."

"Did you ever." Harki held a scrap of lace to her chest, but it was
obviously too small for her. Both Rorela and Paetri were the sort of
tiny, womanly ladies popular in Holds, whereas if she...was not. "Are
these all yours or did you go raiding?"

"I called in a few favors." Rorela chirped happily. "But most are all
mine." She dug into the bottom of the pile and tossed a rather risqué
ensemble towards Harki. "That's yours, by the way. I don't know if
P'nal likes leather and lace, but hey..."

Paetri stared wide eyed at the two. "You guys do this often?" She
looked between them at the pile and suddenly grabbed the glass of wine
in her hands instead of picking up a scrap of lace like Harki had. She
turned her gaze to the oils and paused. She did like to smell nice...

"Not really. Which is a shame." Harki held up the lacy nightgown
Rorela and hid a smile. _That_ was more her style. "And I'm _not_
sleeping with P'nal!"

"Uh huh...Sure.." Rorela sent a playful wink at Paetri. "Yet." She dug
through the pile and held up the sheer white gown and tossed it at
Paetri. "Harki, help out here. We need to find some underthings that
match it."

Paetri held up the gauzy cloth and gaped at it. She could see right
through it! He would be able to see everything! "I can't wear this!"

"Don't worry. You won't be wearing it for long," Harki told her. "And
drink your wine."

Rorela nodded eagerly along with Harki. "Sweetie, if that stays on for
any longer than it takes for him to stop drooling, then I'll go right
up to G'nir and flash him."

"He's going to rip it off me?" The question came out in a squeak!
"J'kri isn't like that, he's nice and sweet and gentle..." She downed
her glass and hiccuped.

Harki reached for a bottle to refill Paetri's glass. "He'll peel it
off you. Or leave it on, some men like a peek-a-boo show. But first--
sit. Rorela can paint your nails. I'm terrible at it."

Rorela shook her head. "No, bath first. She can go get all cleaned
up." She pushed forward the bottles of oils. "Harki, you pick, you're
better at scents than me. And then, when she's done, I'll do her
nails."

"Maybe something flowery..." Harki picked up a small green bottle with
a blown glass topper and raised it to her nose. Paetri was so sharding
_innocent_, she couldn't carry off anything more exotic. Yet. She
glanced at the weyrling, who was still standing frozen with the
nightie in one hand. "Go! Or we'll eat all the cheese without you!"

Paetri grabbed the bottle and scampered to the bathing chambers,
holding out the gown as if it was about to bite her.

Rorela watched her go before she dropped her voice. "Where's her
confidence as a woman? Shells..."

"I know. It's those Holders," Harki said quietly. "I see people like
her, and I'm tempted to leave the lot of them to Thread."

Rorela huffed softly. "It's not like she's not pretty in her own way.
She is. I mean, did you see her legs? Men would drool over them if
she'd just show them off. And if she'd let her hair out of that braid
too, she'd have a lot of attention." She listened to the sound of
bathing and shook her head. "At least she's trying though."

"I hope this J'kri is as good a boy as she thinks he is," Harki said.
"If he doesn't realize what luck he has, he and I might have to have a
little talk," she said, cracking her knuckles for emphasis. "I like
Paetri. She's timid as anything, but she's still brave enough to say
no to me when she's obviously terrified."

"There's got to be something in there of a greenrider." Rorela mused.
"Otherwise she wouldn't have Impressed. Maybe it's just buried
deeply." She blinked at the popped knuckles. "Now don't scare him."

"Don't scare who?" Paetri came out of the bathing chamber, wrapped
tightly in a towel. She was damp from the bath and had evidently used
the scented oil; the scent of flowers clung to her. Her toes curled
against the stone floor as she adjusted the towel. Beneath it, she had
put on the sheer gown and it barely came to her mid-thigh. "I can't
wear this. He can see everything." She looked down and herself. " And
I do mean everything."

Harki glanced at Rorela, grinning. "So show me!"

"But...I don't have anything on under it!" She leapt through the pile,
trying to dig through it to find something that would at least cover
her bottom. She paused, picking up what looked to be just a piece of
lace with string and stared at it with disbelief before putting it
aside and trying to find something more substantial.

"You don't need anything under it. And honestly, girl-- unless you
have a third nipple or something, you don't have anything either of us
don't have!" Harki pursed her lips and turned to Rorela. "Did I ever
tell you about that tumbler I saw in the markets at Jade Harbour? He
had a third nipple. It was so _odd_."

Paetri stood straight, startled. "A third nipple?"

Rorela snickered. It was a good distraction. She waved at Harki. "Do
tell. But come on, Paetri...we've all seen girly bits. Let us see!"

Paetri shifted on her feet and slowly unwrapped the towel. The gown
was extremely sheer and the delicate curves that it displayed were
surprisingly lovely, though some men would have considered her far too
slender.

Rorela applauded and whistled, and Harki made an 'oooo!' sound. "You
look amazing. Poor J'kri will be wrapped around your pinky!"

Paetri flushed and crossed her arms over her chest, but there was a
smidgen of pride in her expression as well. "Do you think so?"

"Either you're gorgeous, or you just called me a liar," Harki said
dryly. "And I'll have you know I have never told a lie in my life.
Therefore, you're gorgeous. And you smell good. Come sit down," she
said kicking out the chair beside her with her foot. "Rorela can do
your nails."

"But I've never been gorgeous." Paetri started to protest and then
shut her mouth and moved to the chair to sit.

Rorela snorted. "Maybe you just haven't seen it. Now, gimme your
hand." She grabbed Paetri's hand and examined her nails. The girl took
good care of them. Humming, she held them still, grabbed the laquer
and with the tip of her tongue sticking out of her mouth, began
coating Paetri's nails.

"You really are, you know." Harki nibbled a bit of cheese and leaned
back in her chair. "You sure I can't cut your hair?"

Paetri held her hands still, unused to the pampering but finding that
she was rather enjoying it. She'd never done anything like this
before. Her voice was soft and she finally gave an genuine smile.
"Thank you." She then frowned. "Keep any scissors or anything sharp
away from my hair. I like it just the way it is."

Rorela snickered. "I guess she told you."

"Fine. No haircut." Harki sniffed and picked up her wine glass. "So
tell us about J'kri! What's he like?"

Paetri's eyes softened immediately. "He's a blue weyrling and he's my
best friend. He thinks I'm beautiful and he's kissed me." She sighed
at the memory, the wine finally kicking in to relax her. "He has the
nicest mouth."

"Hold still. No wiggling." Rorela finished the hand and looked up at
her. "Just kissing?"

Paetri blushed and glanced at Harki. "Just one kiss, really. Right
before we Impressed. And he's gentle. He's never pushed or anything,
but I know he wants to...you know."

"Well, yeah. You're gorgeous." Harki rolled her eyes. "Is he good looking?"

She nodded. "Yeah. He's got brown hair and brown eyes and the best
smile..." Her voice trailed off. "I really like him."

Rorela finished the lacquer on her thumb. "Sounds like you got it bad
for this guy." She glanced at Harki and gave a bit of a smug smile.
"We can both relate, can't we?"

"Ugh." Harki rolled her eyes. "Paetri does _not_ need to hear about
B'lac. But please do go on about G'nir... when you were a weyrling you
couldn't get enough of him!"

"I wasn't talking about B'lac." Rorela sniffed. " I was referring to
your love snookums, P'nal. And as for G'nir...I'm still working on
it."

Paetri's brows rose."The Weyrleader?" She paused when Rorela put down
her hand and then reached for her foot, lifted it and began on her
toes.

"Rorela's always wanted to jump his bones," Harki told Paetri. "They
were weyrlings together and that crush just never wore off. Behind
closed doors she calls him 'lovebug'."

Starting to snort on her giggles, Paetri's shoulders shook. She could
not see G'nir as anything close to being a 'lovebug'.

Rorela eyed Harki and finished Paetri's feet, then calmly tossed the
lacquer brush at her. "Just wait. One day...he shall be mine. If just
for a night." She looked at Paetri's feet and nodded to herself. "All
done. Now..." She rubbed her hands together. "When does your J'kri get
back to his weyr?"

"Hopefully not _too_ soon..." There was still wine left, so Harki
topped up Paetri's glass.

"I don't think I should drink anymore." Paetri eyed the glass. "I'm
already feeling a little silly."

"Then drink half-- we don't waste wine." Harki glanced at Rorela,
grinning. "And let's go see if J'kri is in."
