Er, yes..." It was one of the stupidest greetings- let alone opening gambits- she'd
managed all day, as she fetched up on the doorstep in question half by accident. Ah well, the good thing about Eioval was he'd probably not even notice. "I brought drink?"

Hopefully that would do in lieu of Hi, how are you, and all the regular
stuff.

Reeva'd left her hair down, soft curls curling around her shoulders and back
instead of laced tightly in her usual style. She was never too sure why she
always had the urge to do that in his company- simple vanity? An attempt to
look more his age? Megh. She'd leave the analysis to her mindhealers.

"Reeves, baby, come in!" Eioval practically dragged her over the threshold
with a smile from ear to ear. When she came to his door looking like that,
how could he not?

With a soft 'oof', she found herself on the other side of the door.
Yep, he hadn't noticed. Her smile- a little wishy washy earlier- broadened
to match his. "Mind the wineskin! After my day, I need it"

"Another harrowing day?" Eioval asked as he deftly took the skin from her
grasp and turned to fetch some glasses with the other hand. "You seem to
always have so much of those, my dear."

"Hazard of the job, usually. But there's been a lot of... things."

She trailed off. She was an intensely private person by nature- Eioval was
one of few people who ever got the deepest thoughts out of her- but she was
usually quite quiet about what the infirmary threw up. She was also
resilient enough to not usually need more then the odd moan. This week had
just been- personal. She accepted her glass with a sigh of relief.

"Things?" Eioval prompted as he clinked her glass. "Sit down, relax and tell
me all about these things of yours."

She didn't need telling twice. She was quiet a moment, swilling her wine in
her glass thoughtfully/ Eventually, she rallied with, "It's stupid we lose so many mothers in childbirth."

"It is, it's cruel and unfair," Eioval nodded as he tugged her into his
embrace before asking quietly. "Did you lose a patient today?"

Her eyes squeezed closed, though her voice was calm as ever.

"Yes. And I've another prime case lined up too. With a hold bred girl with
Hold ideals to boot." She sighed quietly, head on his shoulder.

"Oh honey, I'm so sorry," Eioval sighed as he stroked her hair gently.
Sometimes he didn't get why she wanted to be a healer so bad. It seemed like
so much heart-ache. "Can't get through to her?"

She sighed softly, though her voice had a shred of levity in it..
"Not a chance. You know, Eioval, I hate it when I can't help people- but I
hate it more when I can and they won't let me."

"I can only imagine how hard that must be, dear," Eioval nodded seriously.
"Is the father in the picture? Can he help you persuade her perhaps?"

She sighed again, one of the deep ones, burrowing her head in his shoulder
for one long moment before raising her head with a little shake.
"Who knows? I suppose we'll see. Let's talk of something else."

"That's a good idea," Eoival agreed, eager to talk of happier things. "Did
you hear T'fis and Cheraya are moving in together?"

Reeva laughed softly. "So long as they keep it at moving in and don't decide on the babies to
complete the picture, I'll even toast them long life"

"Ah come on, not all children are the foreboding to disaster. Look at our
own little angel," Eioval smiled lovingly at the thought of his son.

She stroked the side of his face lightly, smiling fondly.

"Do I need to remind you that he wasn't the easiest to bring into this world, either."

"But totally worth it, right?" He closed his eyes at the gentle stroke,
still smiling. "I'm not saying everyone should be having babies carelessly,
but they can be such a blessing, you must agree on that."

"I would be the first to, my love."
