The flight was a bit of a blur. Harki yawned and stretched, coming back to herself slowly and enjoying the way her skin felt against the rough flight cot and the man next to her. When she rolled toward him, she was smiling. "I thought it was you."
He didn't miss the look on her face and in her eyes and a part of him felt guilty that he could only have it during times like these because of his responsibilities. It wasn't fair to her. At the same time, he relished the opportunity. Silently thanking Jodeth, he flashed a white grin of his own. "Ah well, it seems the moons were aligned." Burying his nose in her hair, he breathed her in, trying to remember this moment and catching pieces of the ones before. "I tell you what Harki, sometimes I wish I hadn't gotten promoted, though don't ever tell G'nir that."
"And give up your giant weyr, and your own private bathing pool?" He felt good. Shells, he _looked_ good. Even if he was irritating with his stupid mixed messages, right now Harki didn't particularly care. She wrapped her arms around his shoulders and held him close.
"It does have its benefits." He admitted that with a kiss. "There are drawbacks, though. Like not being able to sleep with your wingriders whenever you feel like it. Because then they end up transferred to other Wings." He was warning her and confessing something in the same breath. There was a reason why U'kaiah's women were in other wings.
"Well, I'm not going anywhere." And certainly not right now, not when P'nal was so... yummy. She drew her fingernails lightly down his abdomen just to see him suck in his breath.
Instead of going into what that meant, P'nal found himself using the few moments he had to his advantage. Claiming flightlust was an easy enough defense. No one could ever say anything if he happened to stay a little longer with Harki. After all, it could be the last time in a while if that was how it was going to be. Unless Genith rose and Nirreth didn't catch and the next Weyrleader chose a different Wingsecond. Possibilities began to run through his mind.
They'd be late for drills. Harki didn't care, but she was somewhat surprised that P'nal didn't seem to either. Good luck for her, then, and she smiled as she let her hands roam freely across his body. It was cold outside, but right now, she was very, very warm.
