R'enh

R'enh

After her visit with Cyradis, there was one other person she wanted to
see. Of course she couldn't just go up to his weyr. He could have
people in there. Frowning, Rhosyn gave up on tracking him down and did
things the easy way. **Tell Mnoranth his rider needs to meet me on his
beach if he isn't in a meeting.**

}:Mnoranth, my rider is on your beach. She wishes to speak with your
rider if he is not in a two-legger talking festival:{ Apparently that
was what Orlaith thought meetings were. The queen didn't understand
why she couldn't go to Dolphin Cove. She didn't understand why her
rider was upset with Loseth's rider. She liked to visit Dolphin Cove
and was now left behind at River Bluff while her rider went visiting.
This was unfair.

R'enh chuckled when he finally got the message though he did wonder
why Orlaith thought he was having some sort of party. He trotted down
to the beach until he finally spotted that red hair. "Rhosyn," he
called with a smile. "Did you sneak in?"

"Something like that," she admitted as she turned to face him. Looking
around to make sure no one else was there to overhear, she looked up at
him for a moment, trying to judge how happy he was. "I need to ask you
something. Might come to nothing but...I need to know the answer."

Well that was a bit puzzling but he tilted his head and nodded. "Go ahead."

Something in her eyes flashed for a moment and then she just came out
with it. "If K'sedel retired and I threw the Flight open, would you
come?" That part of her life was Orlaith's choice. Still, if Rhosyn
could control even a small part of it, then why wouldn't she try?
After all, K'sedel wasn't her best choice-but she knew him. He was
safe. Without him, she could end up with anything.

"That's a big question," he started but he knew Rhosyn and knew that
wouldn't be a satisfactory answer. "I have lots of reasons to stay at
Dolphin Cove," he said slowly as his mind churned. **Aishara not the
least of them.** She and Cosani would be greatly missed if he were to
leave. Zorenh could move with him again though he might not like the
prospect. But also the chance to be a Weyrleader in his own right was
nothing to sneeze at.

"But," he nodded. "I would find a way to be there. Orlaith has chosen
Mnoranth before and she might again."

She nodded and sighed. "I don't know if the day will ever come but... I need
to know." Perhaps N'vanik had probably told him, but maybe he hadn't so she
went ahead and shared that piece of information. "I also...I'm officially
single
in all aspects again." Not that she expected anything from him in that
regard,
especially with him at Dolphin Cove, but the part of her inside that was
still
breaking was trying to reach out to someone that might know and understand-
someone that might see the struggling.

And he could see it. R'enh reached out and pulled her into his arms.
"I'm sorry sweetheart," he said softly to the top of her head. She'd
told him how much she cared about N'vanik and though he knew the
Dolphin Cove Weyrleader cared about her too it wasn't the same.
"Are you alright?"

"Not yet, but I will be." She just wished someone would accept her for who
she was, with all her faults, desires, and dreams. "I have too much to do.
Tsaera is leaving, I'm back on full duty. I have to catch up with
everything.
There's no time to sit around and cry for myself." Still, she didn't move
from
the embrace, enjoying the feeling of safety if only just for that moment.
"He
didn't even argue, though. Nothing. He just agreed and left." That hurt more
than anything else and her eyes showed it.

Suddenly he felt a little guilty and wondered if he'd ever done
anything like that to a woman but he only knew of one child and
N'vanik was in a very different situation. Still it was hard when both
of them were his friends. "I'm sorry Rhosyn," was all he could say.

"Me too." She would get through it eventually. She always did somehow,
though it was likely going to mean she didn't trust anyone like that
for a good long time. Thankfully, the goldrider had plenty of things
to distract her. "I'll be fine eventually. At least I don't have to
see him now if I don't want to." She could send Lenala to the Hatching
at Dolphin Cove. "He can see Nisheyl through Briata so I don't even
have to worry about that."

Of course he didn't have a clue how to help her through the whole
thing and how do you tell a woman that she can be difficult. You
can't, at least not without getting your lips ripped off. It was very
hard when he saw both sides and had to try to stay firmly in the
middle.

"What can I say," he shrugged. Then leaning back he gave her his most
engaging wide smile. "You should have picked me."

She considered him quietly for a moment, then looked before stepping
back and seeing the stars. "If you weren't here...I'm not entirely
sure I wouldn't have. I think I've gotten to the point where I need
someone to be there, like Orlaith, not halfway across a continent."
She knew him though and knew he wasn't there, not like she was. "And
anyway, I seem to recall you talking about a certain greenrider."

"Yes," he nodded. But he also knew he wouldn't have let go of her
quite so easily. "She is very special to me. But don't tell me you'd
want exclusivity... you?"

"I've never really done that. And I'm not saying that's what I want.
I'm fine with there being other people. I was never upset with him
having Talryne. I have a problem with the fact that he doesn't love
me." Saying that was like feeling a slap to the face. "I just want
someone who is there more. Who would make my needs more of a
priority maybe, that I can count on. Not who will walk out and not look
back." She stubbed her toe in the sand. **I am worth fighting for. I am
worth loving.**

"I'm sorry it didn't happen for you Rhosyn, and I hope you find what
you're looking for." Relationships just weren't all that easy for
dragonriders.

She shrugged. "If I don't, at least I have Orlaith and the Weyr. And now I
may have grandchildren someday to bother me to the end of my days."
Reaching up, she kissed him lightly and came back down. "It may not happen
this time, but someday. Be well, R'enh."

"You too," he said as he watched her walk away. He didn't like seeing
her like this but there wasn't all that much he could do from so far
away.
