Or Maybe a Woman's Opinion Will Do

Writers: AL, Jelena
Date Posted: 19th July 2014

Characters: Aini, Herlis
Description: Perhaps Aini can help Herlis find a suitable wife...
Location: Seacraft Hall
Date: month 8, day 2 of Turn 7
Notes: Mentioned: Relik

After a pretty unproductive visit to Relik, Herlis had resigned himself to meeting with Aini. Though he'd preferred a man's outlook on the subject, Aini had helped him find a suitable foster mother for his children earlier. So she was probably up to this task as well. Hopefully.

With a quick knock on the door he made his presence known, waiting to be acknowledged.

"Come in." Aini stood behind her desk, as if she had just risen at the beckoning knock. A polite nod was offered in his direction and the barest hint of a smile graced her lips though it faded almost as soon as it appeared. "Ah, Herlis, a pleasure. How may I help you?"

"I have decided it is time for me to find a new wife. I was hoping you had some ideas for suitable candidates." Herlis certainly wasn't one to beat around the bush, declaring his purpose before even sitting down.

There was no surprise indicated on Aini's features. Why should it be odd? He was fairly young, had young children. A foster mother was all well and good, but there was something to be said about a specific mother figure - and a companion. Aini could understand that all too well.

"I see. What sort of attributes are you working for?" As she spoke, her slender fingers teased a piece of blank parchment from the top of a pile and then plucked her pen from its inkwell. "I assume you wish to have one who is well versed in all motherly and womanly duties?"

"Yes. A woman who will be a good mother to my children, keep my house and affairs in order while I am away, that sort of thing." Herlis nodded.

That was, of course, the obvious, but Aini didn't need that sort of information. "Are you looking for anything else in particular? Familiarity with your craft? Is there an age range you would prefer?"

"Uhm. Not too young, not too old." Herlis shrugged. How was he supposed to decide on such things? "Just someone suitable." Oh, he knew he wasn't making it easy for Aini, but surely she had a knack for these sort of things?

Well, that wasn't very specific, so Aini was simply going to have to make a list of positive qualities most men looked for in a wife and give them to Yriadha. "I will be honest with you, Herlis." She stated as she lifted her gaze from the parchment to allow them to fall upon the man. "There are not many women here at the Seacraft Hall as of yet, and those that have taken up residence are either married, too young, or too old. That being said, the Hold has a plethora of women. I will speak with Yriadha and line up some suitable candidates from the Hold for you. Would that be amenable?"

"Yes, that would be fine," Herlis nodded, then hesitated a moment before adding "As long as it isn't some innocent young girl looking for true love. I have none of that to offer anymore."

Aini's gaze flicked up to study the man a moment, then nodded without speaking a word. "I will contact her and let you know when I have some possible candidates you can meet."

"Thank you for your time," Herlis nodded as he got up from his chair. "And thank you for your troubles in advance."

"It's not a problem."
