A glass of wine in his hand and Feral curled up in his lap, E'naer found
himself a new situation for him. G'wen had gone off with someone else and
he was sitting in the couch, in the weyr they shared..all alone expect for
the firelizard. He couldn't help feeling bit self-pity. "Just two of us
tonight," he sighed, scratching Feral. He was feeling lonely and the weyr
seemed so big and empty. Rank had its privileges and his weyr was larger
than average greenrider's. But it never felt this cold and empty before. He
knew he could get all company he wanted with a snap of his fingers. What
had surprised him was that he didn't want them. No. All those blueriders
ready to bed him as soon as he gave them go. He had brushed them away. He
only wanted G'wen. "Is this what love feels like?" he asked but Feral
didn't answer. Love was something he had just skirted around edges.
Notorious bedhopper in the past, he admitted he probably didn't recognize
true love...before it kicked him in the belly and hit him in the head. What
he was feeling wasn't jealousy. If G'wen wanted to have fun with someone
else, he was the last person to deny him. But he did miss him, and he was
surprised how deeply. "Yeah, I'm pathetic," he said, emptied the glass in
one go and reached out to refill it. Feral hissed a protest, she was
comfortable and didn't want him move.

Neath grumbled at her, and then shot her head up. The door to the weyr
opened and then shut softly. G'wen slipped in and stopped when he saw
E'naer. Without saying a word, he took the bottle of wine and refilled
E'naer's glass for him, so Feral didn't have to be moved.

"Thank's. You're back already?" E'naer said, surprised to see him. He had
expected G'wen to be away whole night.

"Don't sound so glum." G'wen pored a glass for himself and plopped down
onto the sofa.

"And here I was, all prepared to feel sorry for myself. I spoiled my
wallowing in self-pity session," E'naer's lips curved upwards and he lifted
his arm, in a signal that G'wen should cuddle closer.

Instead of cuddling, G'wen sat up straight, gazing at E'naer intently. "S
if you wanted to wallow in self pity, then why were you being so obvious
about looking at other men? How do you think that makes me feel?"

E'naer's arm fell back down. "What's the harm in looking if you don't act
upon it?" he asked, genuinedly puzzled. He just didn't understand how
G'wen's mind worked.

"Because that make it feel like you're not happy with me. When we go out I
still only look at you. But your eyes wander all over the Dinning Hall, it
makes me feel like you're looking fir something better and when you find
him, you'll kick me to the curb."

"I am sorry, I haven't realized it affects you that way," E'naer said with
sincerity. "I think our problem is that while we spend time in bed, we
don't really talk, I mean properly talk and we kind of presume things." He
was trying his best to analyze their relationship in sensible and
constructive way. But he had sinking feeling that G'wen was going to take
offence...again.

E'naer couldn't have been more wrong. G'wen leaned forward until he was
safely cuddled up in his partner's arms. "We should, but right now I just
want to be held."

"I'm more than happy to hold you," E'naer replied and despite Feral's
protest, pushed her out of his lap. He wanted room for G'wen. "I love you.
My eyes may wander a bit but my heart never."

"I love you too."
