Description: Aini gets a surprise visit.
Location: Seacraft Hall
Date: month 8, day 19 of Turn 7
Evrik tipped his head to the women standing by the docks as he slung
his canvas bag over his shoulder and walked from the ship. Sunstone
was a new place for him, but he knew that she was there, and he wanted
to check and see how she was doing. Salic would have wanted that.
As he stepped into the Hold, still in his sailor's garb, he asked a
passing drudge, "Could you point me in the direction of the
Headwoman?"
"Down the hall, to the right."
"Thanks." He tipped his head to the woman before sauntering down the
hallway in his trademark stride.
When he arrived at the Headwoman's office the door was open, and the
woman was seated at her desk. Stepping inside the room, he smiled a
little, "Sister-in-law. Long time no see."
Aini was not known for making her emotion obvious. She'd been deemed
as 'cold' and 'collected', two terms that were opposites in whether
or not they were a compliment. However, at the appearance of a face
long familiar to her, she couldn't help but smile. "Evrik." She rose
and stepped around her desk. "It's been a long time. How are you?"
Evrik, never formal with family, looped an arm around Aini's shoulders
and gave her a hug, "I am good. I was in the area and thought I would
come and see how you are faring."
Aini returned the hug and nodded. "I'm well, settling in and taking
care of things as the Hall continues its construction. How long are
you around?"
"Couple sevendays. Till the ship is loaded and ready to sail again. We
have been on the sea for a while, Captain figures we deserve a bit of
shore time."
"Ah then the stack of parchment waiting for me must be in regards to
your visitors." They would spend the night on the ship since the Hall
was still building, so there was no need for quarters, but the Hall
would provide them with food. "I was just about to tackle them when
you arrived."
"You wouldn't be able to find a small place for your favorite
brother-in-law that is not on a ship, would you? I would actually like
to sleep on dry ground for a bit." Evrik's crooked grin gave him a
roguish appearance.
"Well, I suppose_someone_ would be willing to let you stay. I'll
have to ask around, see if someone is willing to put up with your
foolishness." Not a twitch of a lip, not a rise of an eyebrow gave
any indication that Aini was anything but serious - save for a tiny
twinkle in her dark eyes.
Evrik popped a kiss onto Aini's cheek, "I knew my dearest
sister-in-law would not let me down."
"Oh stop it." Aini waved her hand at him. "I need to take care of
some work - including that in reference to your ship. However, I will
come find you for dinner."
The sailor stepped back, "Alright, Aini, I am holding you to that. It
is not very often a sailor gets to come to dry land and have a nice
meal, and with a respectable woman at that." He was still grinning.
Aini clicked her tongue. "Aye, but nae with a respectable man. Now
shoo, I have work to do." She would see him later, and to be honest,
Aini would be glad for it. It had been quite some time since the two
had seen each other - she was certain there was a lot of catching up
to do.
Evrik gave her a jaunty little salute, "Yes ma'am!" Turning smartly,
the sailor sauntered from the room, thinking he might find somewhere
to wet his whistle before that evening.
