Bryvin

Bryvin

That evening aboard ship Bryvin was entertained with some music and a
nice bottle of wine at his evening meal with the Captain. He followed
that with a pleasant hour of contemplation on deck in the evening
breeze. Dolphins played in the wake of the ship highlighted by the
light of the moons.

He became uncharacteristically nostalgic in the beauty of the moment
and the purpose of the voyage. There had once been a girl. He'd been
very fond of her but not quite enough to make him stay put when his
plans had begun to turn sour.

So perhaps it wasn't surprising when her form rose up to visit his dreams.

"Over here," he called when he heard her voice calling him from the
maze of the garden.

Elarie smiled when she found him. "Oh Bryvin, how are you today?"

"I'm fine," he said with an easy smile lighting his face. He touched
her fingers and drew her to the side near a tall hedge where he knew
they couldn't be seen from the upper stories of the house. "You look
lovely today Lady Elarie," he breathed softly.

She flushed at the compliment. "Thank you for noticing, good sir."
She'd dressed up to meet him in her nicest summer dress, wearing her
hair in fine braids with a flower tucked behind her ear.

"Bryvin, please." he said. "I'm only an Understeward My Lady."

She giggled. "As you wish, Bryvin." Shards, he was handsome and so nice to
her...how was she so lucky?

"How was your day?"

"It went pretty well." he smiled warmly. "But I was distracted by
thoughts of a lovely face."

She leaned forward and, greatly daring, pressed her lips to his cheek.
"The same is true - I could barely concentrate on the ladies' chatter
today. I was embroidering and kept thinking of you."

Feeling welled in his eyes and he lifted her hand to his lips. "If
only I could apply to your father for your hand," he added fervently.

She sighed. "He's too focused on me marrying a Lord Holder. I don't see
why he can't believe in what makes me happy."

"Would I," he asked hopefully. "Could you be happy with a simple Under
Steward?"

"I would be," she replied. "I know what I want - a kind, handsome man who
won't hurt me and we would have lovely children."

He smiled and stepped a fraction closer. "Beautiful Lady," he said
softly. "May I kiss you?"

"Absolutely," she said, leaning into a good position for him.

He bent forward to place a soft kiss on her lips but seeming emotion
overcame him and a groan formed in his throat. His arms tightened
around her and his kiss became more demanding.

She leaned up into him and ran her arms down his back. She still couldn't
believe the handsome man was interested in her! Why her father was so
foolish...

When it ended, she rocked back with a soft sound. "Oh Bryvin," she sighed.

He fingered a curl of the blond hair that nestled against her neck.

The porcelain skin that smelled of delicate flowers rocked his senses.
His thumb lightly stroked her cheek and he smiled gently. Hunger
burned in his eyes as he looked into hers. "Have dinner with me," he
asked in a low voice. "alone?"

"That would be delightful. I'd like to hear some more about your plans for
the future," she said, shivering at his touch.

"I'll tell you all about them," he promised. He lightly touched his
lips to hers again almost as a token and a promise.

That dinner had been incredible as had the days and eventually nights
that followed. Bryvin awoke from his dream with a smile on his lips
and in a state he dealt with swiftly. "I'm finally coming for you like
I promised Elarie," he said to the night.
