Description: Rayan comes home with some big news.
Location: Vintner Hall
Date: month 9, day 1 of Turn 7
Notes: NPC: Bethila
Wow. Just wow. Rayan leaned against the door he had just closed behind him.
Had that really just happened? His quarters were quiet. He knew the girls
were all out doing chores or getting their Harper lessons, but Bethila was
supposed to be there somewhere. And indeed not soon after he'd shut the
door closed, his red-headed wife moved into view, a questioning expression
pushing up her eyebrows. He was home early and from the look on his face
something was up.
"Rayan?"
Her husband didn't respond for a moment, looking at her with a most curious
expression. It only made her nervous.
"Bethila, sit down for a bit, I have some news."
That didn't bode well. She quickly pulled up a chair to his favourite one,
her face tense. It was only then that Rayan noticed his bewilderment at the
turn of events was freaking his wife out and a smile broke through.
"It's good news, Bethy, it's incredible news," he took a deep breath after
sitting down and grasping her hands. "I've been nominated for the
Hallmaster position."
Much like her husband had, Bethila took some time to register and then she
jumped up from her chair and launched herself at her husband with a cry of
triumph.
"I knew this would happen! I knew it! You worked so hard, dear, you worked
so hard!" Not to mention her careful prodding and poking with the other
Master's wives. Though she'd never admit it to anyone out loud, she had
been doing quite a bit of work for him behind the scenes. "Congratulations
dear, you earned it," she continued as she hugged him tight.
With a grin, Rayan pulled her into a sitting position into his lap and
caught her lips in a passionate kiss. "I'm not there yet, but I couldn't
have gotten this far without you, dear," he said seriously as he broke
free. Even though Bethila might never mention it, he knew she had been
campaigning for him with the women of the Hall.
"Now, how long 'till the girls come home? I feel like celebrating!"
