Teseada

After meeting the Weyrleaders, Chalayd was directed to talk with the
Weyrwoman's second. She was supposed to show him around. After he had shown
a place to sleep and store his bags, he found himself knocking a door. He
wasn't surprised that the Weyr had contacted Hall. The place was almost as
cold as outside.

"Come in," the goldrider was wearing think woolen sweaters, with her flying
jacket atop the ensemble. It might look bizarre, but was keeping her warm.

"You're weyrwoman Teseada? I was told that you can help me and show me your
geothermal power plant," Chalayd said and stepped in.

"That's me," the young goldrider said. "You're from the Technician's Hall,
Journeyman?"

"Yes, I am, I came to fix your power plant," Chalayd replied. He looked her
more closely. "Haven't I seen you at the Hall?"

"I've been there a few times, working on my project to walk the tables, and
get some knots just like yours," she said as she reached for her toolkit,
which was always close to hand. "I'm sure the Hallmaster will let me put
this work towards it."

"I'm sure it will be noted," Chalayd replied. "Does anything like this
happen ofter around here?" he asked.

"Not for a few turns," came the reply. "Let me grab a glow basket and I'll
show you the power plant, and what I know about the workings of it."

"Thank's. I heard your power plant is one of the oldest ones in Southern
Pern?" Chalayd asked and stepped to follow her.

She nodded, "Yes, it's been here virtually as long as the Weyr, and it can
be tempremental at times. I almost think sometimes it goes off in the winter
to see what we do about it."

"Oh, that kind of machine. Sounds almost like my wife," Chalayd chuckled.

"Sometimes I think it's like a moody candidate," Teseada said as she led the
way. "One that hates chores, and would rather sleep in."

"Sounds like this will be interesting then," Chalayd said. The decended to
the deepest level of the Weyr. Chalayd kept looking around curiously. This
was his first visit to Weyr and he was quite excited.

"It can be," the goldrider said. "Not far now, just round here," she said as
they rounded the corner.

"Wow," Chalayd breathed when large door was pushed open and he saw the
machinery.

"I think every one says that the first time they see this place." Teseada
reached out to open one of the emergency glows stored there, before going to
open a few more. "She's a beauty, but don't tell Onnyth I said that."

"Jelous type?" Chalayd asked although his attention was in the machinery.
"Let's find out what's wrong," he took off his jacket and rolled up sleeves.

"All gold dragons are," Teseada said. "I'm wondering if tunnel snakes have
got in here again, they like the warmth. Usually they chew on a wire or two,
but this looks like there could be more going on."

"Let's found out," Chalayd's sharp mind was already focused on the work
ahead of them.
