Weyrling Training Guide - Month 1

His month is both the hardest and the easiest of the entire weyrlinghood. Most of the time will be spent getting to know one's lifemate and learning to care for a young, growing dragon properly. Dragon and rider will spend time simply getting to know each other and strengthening the bond they now share, with the aid and counsel of older riders and weyrlingstaff. There is very little free time allotted at any point in weyrlinghood, but even less during the first month. At hatching, a dragonet ranges from 3 to 4 feet in length, but the size will change rapidly, especially for the larger colors.

Weyrling Training Guide - Month 2

The second month of weyrlinghood is when the exercise and mental training of the first month begin to be put to more substantial use. Ground drills begin, first without the dragonet, then later with all the dragonets learning what their weyrlings have hopefully learned by rote. On Threadfall days, all classes and drills are suspended. Weyrlings will be assigned to assist workcrews serving the riders as they ready for Fall and as they return. Any weyrling with healer training will be assigned to the Infirmary staff and under the Weyrhealer's command for the day.

Weyrling Training Guide - Month 3

The third month of weyrlinghood is when first flights take place. Aerial drills begin in the latter half of the month, after dragonet and rider have learned control in the air. On Threadfall days, all classes and drills are suspended. Weyrlings will be assigned to assist workcrews serving the riders as they ready for Fall and as they return. Any weyrling with healer training will be assigned to the Infirmary staff and under the Weyrhealer's command for the day.

Weyrling Training Guide - Month 4

The fourth month of weyrlinghood is when first jumps /between/ take place. First there are visualization drills, then first jumps, followed by learning to work the /betweening/ into the aerial formations.. On Threadfall days, all classes and drills are suspended. Weyrlings will be assigned to assist workcrews serving the riders as they ready for Fall and as they return. Any weyrling with healer training will be assigned to the Infirmary staff and under the Weyrhealer's command for the day.

Weyrling Training Guide - Month 5

The fifth month of weyrlinghood is when dragons first learn to flame, and begin ropes drills in preparation for Blooding in Month Six of training. Weyrlings who were not weyrbred will be encouraged to explore all aspects of weyrlife before graduation, including sexual experience. On Threadfall days, all classes and drills are suspended.
