S'yen survives his first Threadfall and immediately reports to duty in the infirmary with Weyrdragonhealer W'ser. The bluerider seems content with the possibilities of his new phase of his life.
R'enh is unhappy when he finds out that Saibra did not take a chaperone with her to a nearby Hold, especially since all goldriders are supposed to travel with a guard after Riyanth's death at BLW. The couple argues briefly, but come to a quick resolution.
A'len hopes to gather allies in his crusade against his own son, the Weyrleader. He approaches Weyrsecond, M'kayre, but the other bronzerider does not turn out to be the ally A'len hoped for. A'len tries to warn K'mai to stay away from I'serin, but it doesn't go as well as A'len would like. He then visits with M'kall and Tsaera, trying to garner support from the former River Bluff Weyrwoman and Wingleader, but both see the man's behavior as concerning.
Saibra begins interviewing goldriders for the Weyrwoman's Second position. Her first interview, with Goldrider Illana, goes disastrously when the visiting gold nearly Rises at Dragonsfall. Needless to say, Illana will not be getting the job.
T'mhas reflects on when he revealed to his family the depth of his relationship with M'thos. His family is not supportive, but M'thos is and gives his weyrmate the space he needs to figure out his feelings regarding their new little family.
Kadira receives a visitor at Dragonsfall, someone who turns out to be her number one fan - Aydhara. Aydhara has long admired female blueriders, and Kadira, being the first, is straight at the top.
Wingleader L'val checks in on Weyrleader I'serin after a particularly bad Threadfall, offering his support.
C'rin and Riveenata have an honest conversation regarding their friendship and agree to start talking again regularly.
Varethos decides to withdraw from Candidacy, a decision that surprises his dad.
I'serin gives K'mai a gift - a symbol of his feelings and as an apology.
Hellond and Hesbia share their feelings regarding the bronzerider that let her father die in the flooded caves.
K'far and Vaile share a tender moment after Liranth's flight where K'far reveals that he loves Vaile.
