"You wanted to see me sir?" T'kala reported to the weyrlingmaster the minute Dagreth had told him the man wanted to see him.
"Yes, take a seat lad." J'an gestured to a chair at the other side of his desk. "This won't take long."
"Is everything all right sir?" he pulled the other chair to the desk.
"Everything's fine, this is just a brief chat to see how you and Dagreth are doing."
"We're fine." The boys face lit up. "He's growing fast. And he's not sleeping as much as he was. He asks question all the time too."
"How do you deal with that?" Most dragonets went through that phase, and every new rider had to learn to deal with it. Some answered all the time, other managed to get their lifemates to wait a while and let them find out answers. It all depended on the individual and and J'an was genuinely curious as to what the answer might be.
"It depends on the question, if I know the answer I tell him but if I don't I get him to ask another dragon. He likes talking to Quylith"
"He does does he?"
"He says she's nice."
"What does he think of the rest of his class?"
"He says their nice but that greens talk to much. T'kala shrugged for moment. "I told him it's a girl thing."
"What about the browns and the bronzes?"
His eyes faded for a second. "He says that they are nice to him, and that they are fun to play with."
J'an made a few notes on the hides that formed T'kala's records. "How do you feel that the two of you are doing in classes and drills?"
"I think we're doing good. He wants to fly and so do I but I know we have a while to go."
"Don't risk it too early. There is a reason you shouldn't and that's young Dagreth. He's still growing, and right now he needs to learn to cope with the idea of flying alone before he tries to carry you as well," warned the Weyrlingmaster.
T'kala nodded. "Yes sir."
"How about classes themselves, do they make sense to you?"
"There okay. Dag's confused as to why we have to go to them, they aren't that much different from harper classes."
"Does he listen in at all?"
"When he's awake. Some times I can kind of hear him talking to your bronze, asking questions."
"Those questions are good, and Alylth doesn't mind being asked them." It was part of what helped the Weyrlingmaster in his job, the dragon's willingness to converse with the young dragonets.
"Dagreth just told me that he really likes Alylth." THe bluerider smiled.
"He comes up with things like that, if he hears a name."
"That's good."
T'kala smiled. He was glad Dagreth was doing well.
"There's nothing else I need from you now."
"Have a good day sir." T'kala replied. At least they weren't in trouble.
