K'mai

K'mai
I'serin

I'serin

There were some perks to being a Weyrleader, I'serin noted, as he walked into his weyr, stripping off his shirt. He eyed the big bath. After a long day, it was calling. He rubbed his forehead as he thought ahead to the evening. Could he claim some time for himself? Yes. Could he spend some of that with K'mai? Also yes.

Anxiety nibbled at his mind as he looked at the bath again. "I am good enough, as myself," he said quietly in an attempt to dispel it. **Aluneth, is K'mai free?** he asked as he crossed the weyr to lock the other door. He did not give that panic allowance. He repeated his little mantra as he grabbed a bottle of wine and glasses. **Tell him to join me if he is.** No one would know, no one would care. He deserved to be happy, deserved to be himself.

While he waited for K'mai's response, I'serin slid into the bath with a long sigh, unburdening himself of the day.

K'mai almost dropped his drink when Sebeth relayed the message. **He said _what_? To meet him _where_?**

}:Aluneth said his wants you to join him in the bath.:{

In his _bath_?!? K'mai put his glass on the nearest table. "Hey, sorry," he told the people around him. "Gotta go!" He quickly kissed a few people goodbye and barely kept himself from running for the ledge.

}:We are coming.:{ Sebeth told Aluneth, his voice full of amusement.

Minutes later, K'mai skidded to a stop in the Weyrleader's bathing room. He took in the sight of I'serin relaxing in the warm water, wine and glasses set nearby. "Did my birthingday come early?"

The bronzerider was resting his head on the lip of the bath, his eyes closed. But K'mai's words brought the quirk of a left-sided smile. "Do not give me time to overthink this," he teasingly threatened without opening his eyes.

K'mai stripped quickly. I'serin had invited him to his _weyr_, to his _bath_. The bluerider slipped in next to him and brushed damp hair from the Weyrleader's brow. "Full of surprises." He kissed I'serin's temple.

I'serin pulled him in for a kiss. If he could turn his mind off, ignore that Aluneth was blocking the ledge from disturbances (but thank him for understanding), sink himself into the moment -- then the panic faded away. Which is what he did. One arm went around K'mai's waist, the other hand tangled into his hair, holding him close. "K'mai," he murmured. A sigh, a surrender, a promise. All in that one name.

Tender warmth filled K'mai and he slid into I'serin's lap. "Shards, what you do to me." He kissed the bronzerider, soft and slow but with an eager edge.

Between those kisses, I'serin said, "I had...intended...to take...our time," but now that he had the bluerider in his lap, he wanted nothing more than to keep him there. His mind began bubbling up a dozen scenarios and if he chased each one down, they would be at this for hours. Something about that sent a zing of arousal through him. His grip on K'mai tightened.

"I can give you a massage." K'mai bent to lick water from his collarbone. "You've been so tense." He was in I'serin's lap, in the Weyrleader's bath. He wanted to stay here for candlemarks. He never wanted to leave.

"Later," the Weyrleader moaned softly. He kissed down K'mai's throat.

~*~ fade to black ~*~

I'serin waited a few moments for them both to come down before shifting so that he could pull K'mai into a cuddle. The warm water only gave him more incentive to drowse against K'mai's shoulder while his arms were wrapped loosely around the bluerider's middle. He let out a soft hum of contentment.

K'mai melted against him. "I love you."

"Nec....ssary," I'serin hummed as he tightened his arms.

The bluerider smiled. It was such a gift to hear him say it, to know how much I'serin meant it. "This is better than anything I could've dreamed of."

"I thought you would like it," I'serin answered in a sated tone. He kissed K'mai's collarbone. "There is still wine to share." What would it be like, I'serin wondered, to simply share an evening together as couples did? Was this what it looked like?

A little reluctantly, K'mai pulled away to reach for the wine. "I do love being in your big, private bath," he said as he poured for both of them. "But I kind of meant . . . all of it."

"All of what?" I'serin asked as he took the glass.

"Us. Being with you." He caressed I'serin's jaw. "I'm a little bit afraid I might be too much. Shards, do other people really feel like this all the time? How do they get anything done?"

"I am told," I'serin said with a chuckle, "that the flits in your belly eventually fade." He traced K'mai's lips with one finger. "Though I hope that does not happen for quite a long while," he added in a low voice.

"Me, too." K'mai kissed him, soft and sweet. "It's an amazing feeling. Now I _definitely_ know I haven't been in love before because this is . . . it's really something else." Not better than the way he loved his friends and family, but different.

I'serin's arm tightened around his waist. "This is...freeing...to me as well," he answered. "Scary. Terrifying in some instances. But...freeing. You give me courage. And more."

K'mai's eyes grew a little damp. A bronzerider, a _Weyrleader_ saying K'mai had given him courage. "I think the courage was already there, you just had to find it."
