Description: K'sedel and K'reyel spring a surprise drill on the wing...
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 8, day 3 of Turn 4
"Okay, lets do it." The Weyrleader looked to his second and gave him and his bronze the nod. Both K'sedel and K'reyel were dressed for drills, and their dragons ready to go. They could only hope that the riders could respond quickly and take things seriously.
**Erdenth, call them,** K'reyel told his dragon.
}:Rapids Wing dragons!:{ called the bronze. }:We drill now!:{ Jh'slaen eyed Saradath as she relayed the message. "Now?"
}:Now!:{ Saradath replied, quite excited at the prospect. }:When you are ready,:{ she added more moderately.
"That won't take a moment," he assured her, crossing to the clothes press for his fighting gear. **Do you know _why?_**
}:Erdenth did not say,:{ Saradath said, turning her head to watch his progress.
}:We are drilling now.:{ Avesith told Eridhiya.
The Weyrdragonhealer set down the hides and looked up to the air. **Now?**
}:Yes. You should hurry.:{ Avesith advised.
Eridhiya rushed to her weyr, thanking Faranth for her habit of having all her gear nicely laid out in one area. There would be transit time, of course, but the actual preparing wouldn't take as long without digging it up from anywhere.
**Are you all right to fly?** R'harne asked Guieth when the brown dragon informed him of the call to drills. **Not too over-full from your meal?**
While the brownrider pulled his heavy fighting gear on his lifemate assured him that he had, in fact, eaten lightly and could put off his nap for a while.
"They're coming," K'reyel told the Weyrleader as he checked the straps on Erdenth, no sense in setting a bad example himself.
"Good, lets see how much longer it takes them," said K'sedel.
Saradath landed alongside the cliff in the space between cliffs and river that served River Bluff Weyr as a Bowl. Jh'slaen stayed mounted, presuming that as soon as the others arrived they would be going aloft.
Avesith landed gently and greeted the other dragons. Eridhiya saluted the Wingleader from her place astride her green. "Eridhiya and Avesith reporting, sir!" she called over.
The rest of the wing managed to appear, although not quite so quickly. It seemed that some of them might perhaps be in for a little lecture on the meaning of the word 'now', thought K'sedel. Sometimes fighting thread meant that speed had to be of the essence, but not sloppiness, and he was relieved to see that that was not the case here today.
"Congratulations riders, you made it out here quicker than I expected, "
the first words being a compliment. "Now everyone is here, we are going to drill, and yes I know, we were out here earlier, so you'll all be pleased to know that tomorrow's early drill will be cancelled as a result of this. So, let's fly!"
K'sedel settled himself in place, thanks to the Nikornath obligingly allowing him to use a foreleg as a step. He fastened his straps and gave the age old signal to take to the air. Drills were underway.
