Lirit's fingers danced over his canine companion's head for a moment. He knew the creature was there, but occasionally he would give the boy a pat on his head, or just touch him. It was almost as a reassurance thing, even though he didn't really need that reassurance. The dog was well behaved, and while not necessarily trained to aid him in his daily life, he was well trained in other areas. So really, no reassurance was needed.

The hallways were dim, but Lirit didn't realise this. Everything was dim to him. Everything was dimmer than dim, a darkness that could not be penetrated by light. Most people didn't seem to realise this, however, when they first met him. His eyes didn't hold a glazed over look, but rather took on a warmth, as if they could see without him really realising it.

He was lost in thought. His jury was coming up and he was rather worried out it. He had no problem performing for the masses, for the audience that, for the most part, had no idea if he made a mistake or not. When it came to his jury or performing for other harpers, however, that was where he had issues. It made him nervous and he always worried about making mistakes.

His thoughts were interrupted, however, by the sound of voices. The hallway he was in was strangely empty, and only two voices carried through it. It wasn't that late, but perhaps most people had gone down to the dining hall for their evening meal, which was where he was headed. A man and a woman.

Though he couldn't see it, the dragonrider had cornered Drina, pressed her against a wall, both arms on either side of her. His breathing was hard and fast, almost as if he laboured from some illness, but it was not illness that caused him to react that way. His dragon had been chasing a flight, but the brown had lost and the rider was a prisoner to his lust.

“Not me,” Drina told the man, struggling against him. “There are plenty willing to sate you, but I’ve children to look after and haven’t the time for you.” She shoved and tried to duck under the man’s arm but was unable to escape.

The dragonrider pressed in closer, his mouth seeking hers until a voice interrupted him. "Excuse me," Lirit might be blind, but his hearing told him well enough that the man had completely ignored the woman. "But I think you should do as the lady says."

Drina tried to take advantage of the distraction, but found herself still pinned against the wall.

“Lady?” the dragonrider snorted. “Just a woman, and available right now.” Lirit's hold upon his walking staff tightened and his teeth ground together. "Leave her alone. Let her go, _now_."

"Make me."

Lirit made a sound that was almost a growl and step forward. The dragonrider then turned to face his foe, but stopped as another sound, a real growl, this one low, deep, and loud caused his attention to turn from man to canine.

Scout was not a small dog and the teeth he bared were white and very sharp. As soon as moves had been made, he had taken his place between the two men, uneven eyes trained upon the dragonrider. The man hesitated, eyeing the beast. Finally, he decided that the canine would probably do more damage than it was worth to have the woman and snapped a rather unintelligible retort before stalking off, muttering angrily Lirit relaxed visibly. Scout took a moment or two longer to do so, waiting until the dragonrider was completely out of sight before he closed his mouth and the hair on the back of his neck relaxed back into place. The harper turned his gaze in the direction where he had last heard the woman's voice. "Are you all right, ma'am?"

Drina nodded. “I probably should have given in to him " he didn’t know what he was doing, at least not entirely. Flight lust. But I really didn’t want to and the children. . .” Her voice trailed off and she smiled nervously. “I’m babbling, aren’t I?” Lirit chuckled softly. "It's all right. I don't mind." The harper's unseeing gaze traveled in the direction he had heard the dragonrider go. "I'm just glad there was someone around. Flight lust or not, you didn't want it."

“No, I didn’t,” she admitted. “Thank you.” "My pleasure!" Lirit grinned broadly. "If there's anything else I can do, just ask. I'll be happy to act as a bodyguard."

“That’s a tempting offer,” she told him, returning the smile, “but I already owe you, and I can usually take pretty good care of myself. On the other hand, if there’s anything I can do for you, let me know.” "I could use some company for dinner?" Lirit suggested with another grin. "Dinner time can get very lonely indeed."

“I’d gladly do that,” was her reply. “But I doubt that you’d really want to do that. Dinner with me would be far from lonely because my daughter and my foster-son will be expecting me.” "You have children?" Of course, she had mentioned children earlier. And, of course, if she had a child there was a chance of a husband or weyrmate, though she hadn't mentioned that. "You sound so young. I wouldn't mind the company of children, but I shan't press it. If you ever need some adult company, however, I'll be glad to oblige."

“I’ll accept adult company anytime, particularly with someone who doesn’t expect me to abandon the children to spend time with adults.” "Well then, just let me know." Lirit grinned, eyes, though sightless, twinkling.
