A week lounging on the beach while she was 'recuperating' wasn't something Trellyn was going to argue with. After all the excitement with that horrid snake bite, she was more than happy to have a bit of a rest. She was halfway to a nap when she heard footsteps approaching in the sand. When she opened her eyes, she saw Master Seori approaching a few feet away carrying a bundle of cloth in her hands. Trying to keep her voice soft, but failing and speaking jovially, Seori said, "Sorry to wake you, Trellyn." "Oh, you didn't wake me. I'm just being lazy. Care to join me?" she asked as she patted the sand next to her.
"Actually, I've got something for you," Seori replied, sitting down. "I think you're going to want to sit up for this one." She complied, curious, but keeping her voice even. "Well I do like presents."
"I think most people do." Seori offered the bundle, but then paused, thinking better of it. "Now, I've got to tell you, before I give you this, that you're not to get overly excited about this. You're still in recovery and we can't have you jumping around or anything. Promise?"
"As long as it's not a snake, I promise!" she laughed as she held out her hands for the bundle. "I can assure you it is _not_ a snake." Seori handed the bundle over carefully. It was rather heavy, and she wanted to make sure it wasn't dropped in transit. Hardly containing her excitement, she watched Trellyn's face as she pulled the cloth aside.
"An eggpot!" she exclaimed her face lighting up with glee. Taking a peek inside at the egg, she looked up at Seori in amazement. "What did I do to deserve this?"
"You did a fantastic salvage job, that's what." Seori's eyes twinkled.
"One of the holders was so grateful to see his missing items returned, he was ready to give you his firstborn daughter in marriage, if only you'd been a man." She grinned, remembering his enthusiasm. "She was quite pretty," she said, jokingly. "Anyway, when he heard that you'd been injured continuing in your salvage operation, he insisted that you have this. I hope you feel that it is a suitable reward for your efforts, and that it provides some compensation for your time spent in recovery."
Trellyn was stunned. The ship salvage had been part of her job, and the snake bite was her own stupid fault; but she wasn't about to refuse such a wonderful gift. "Well please tell me who the holder is so that I may at least send him a thank you note."
"Of course. I'm having trouble remembering his name off the top of my head, but I've got it written down somewhere." Seori made a move to get up. Still grinning mischievously, she said, "Now, I don't know much about these things, but that egg could hatch anytime now, as I was informed."
Trellyn was listening, but her gaze was focused on the eggpot as she thought about the beautiful present inside. "I'll go talk to Jennika, she had two firelizards and she can tell me what to do."
"Sounds good," Seori rose and turned to leave. She winked before heading off. "Enjoy the rest of your day."
"You too!" Trellyn called after her. She thought about laying back down to try and get some more rest, but the egg pot in her lap proved too exciting! She gathered up her things and limped back towards the Hall, she had to go and find Jennika!
