Mosler entered Seori's private room quietly, in case
she was sleeping, a vase filled with flowers he had picked in his hands. After Seori's stroke, she had been moved to this room to recuperate, and Mosler thought that some fresh flowers might cheer
her up.
Seori turned her head to look at him coming in. She tried to smile, but it didn't seem to work quite right. Nothing seemed to be working right at the moment. The healers had sounded somewhat hopeful as to her chances of a full recovery, but she couldn't find it in herself to believe them. "Mozzler." She winced at the sound of her own dull voice.
"Morning beautiful," he said as he presented the flowers before setting them on the table next to her bed. He grabbed the same chair he grabbed everyday and brought it to the side of her bed.
"How are you feeling today? Do you need anything?"
Seori just looked at him for a moment. If she didn't try to move or speak, she could almost imagine that everything was normal again. But seeing his expectant expression, she knew she had to make an effort. "No, I'm fine." Though a bit muffled, her words sounded mostly comprehensible to her. Then, her face fell, or the half that still worked, when she remembered what the healer had told her just that morning. "I'm leavin', Mozzler. Nowf..." **Well, maybe not so comprehensible,** she thought, disheartened.
"I know," Mosler said taking her hand in his, "The healer told me before I came in. He said you're going up North to recuperate with your daughter?"
Seori gave a small nod and a sigh. She was looking forward to seeing her daughter again, but regretted the circumstances that brought her to it. Thinking again of her helplessness, she felt her eyes start to prickle, and closed them, hoping she could ward off the tears. Still, one small tear spilled over as she did so. She kept her eyes closed, not liking that Mosler had to see her in such a state.
"You know," he said as he gently wiped the tear away from her face with his finger, "there's no shame in crying when there is cause."
She bent her head down onto his hand, bringing her good left hand up and squeezing his hand in thanks. She paused a moment longer, than raised her head, opening her eyes again. Though she knew her voice would be further thickened with emotion, she said, "Thank you." She hoped it would cover the vast amount of things she was grateful to him for, and she willed him to understand.
"Think nothing of it, beautiful." he said trying to keep his voice from breaking. He didn't really know what he was going to do with her gone. He had taken the Hallsecond position at her prompting, because she said she needed him, he hadn't really wanted such responsibility as running a Hall. **But she'll be back** he said to reassure himself, **She'll be back.**
