"Deep down, deep down, deep deep down." It was a tune, one that Vandor
was familiar with, but for some reason he found himself stuck on that
one line. Just that one line. Over and over again, he murmured it as
he wandered through the hall, his steep off just a little bit, not
quite as balanced as he would be. Occasionally he'd wobble, then
straighten back up, only to waver again a few steps later.
"Deep down, deep down, deep deep down." Again he sang, his voice
rolling almost like a drum, echoing and vibrating against the walls,
not loud, but certainly not easy to miss as his voice dropped down the
stairs of the notes. "Deep down...deep...deep...down..."
Tavia stretched and touched her toes a couple of times before heading
out the the infirmary toward her rooms. She blinked when she saw
movement and heard someone coming down the corridor singing a low
rumbling round.
As she got closer she held up her glow to throw some light down the
darkened hall. "Vandor?!"
The big man stopped, his dark skin melting with the shadows and his
face turned toward her, his eyes caught in the light and his white
teeth stark against the darkness of his mouth. "Tavia?" It ended in a
question, though there was no doubt he knew who she was.
She smiled back at the sparkling eyes. "Did you have a nice night
out?" She'd heard that he and a few others were going out for a little
recreation tonight and he did seem a little loose.
"Yep!" That grin remains, his teeth almost sparkling. "Very nice.
Went to the Tavern at the Vintner hall. Nice amount of choices. Ya
been there?"
She walked closer too him. "I _have_ been there, good food and great
drinks!" She continued to smile at him "Do you need any help to get to
your room Vandor?" He was looking just a little wobbly.
"I'm good." Vandor nodded and he did indeed wobble a bit before
catching himself. "Just...making my way there. And wishing the hall
wouldn't keep jerking around."
"Yes," she giggled. "It's been doing that recently. Maybe if we hold
onto each other, we can make it." With that she ducked under one of
his arms and put her own around his waist. She gently tried to guide
him in the right direction.
"Yeah, that might work." Vandor didn't mind in the least, though he
knew it didn't mean anything. Still, he allowed Tavia to help amble
him down the hall. His quarters weren't too far away and he fumbled
with the door for a moment before he finally got it open.
They kind of stumbled into the room and it was just a little
difficulty to keep Vandor from toppling over. Tavia chuckled. She'd
_never_ seen the big healer in this condition before. He was always so
controlled. Maybe that was one of the reasons she admired him so much.
She pulled him toward his bed.
"Deep down, deep down....deep, deep, down..." Vandor's voice matched
the words quite well, the voice dropping lower and lower.
"Down...down." He let Tavia draw him to the bed without complaint.
Tavia snorted. "That's right. Down down..." She got behind him while
he swayed by the bed and pulled at his jacket. She got it moving
down his arms and pulled it off so she could hang it up. "Stay right
there." She leaned toward the hook but couldn't quite reach it so she
let go and lunged for it hoping to hook it and get back to keep him
upright.
"I'm not going to fall over." Vandor stated almost huffily. He
swayed, but it didn't seem like he was going to topple completely. He
stepped to the side, wobbled a bit, then sat down heavily on the bed
while heaving a sigh.
She just shook her head and bent down to remove his shoes. "There, now
we need to get that tunic off." She stood and started pulling it over
his head.
Vandor took a deep breath and put his hands over Tavia's. "Don't."
"Ok," she said looking at him a bit puzzled. She knew how fastidious
he was about his clothing. "If _you_ want to be all wrinkled in the
morning, no problem. Now let me get you some water." She tried to pull
her hands away but didn't succeed. "Vandor, you know you need to
hydrate."
Vandor chuckled and let her go. "Who's the healer now?" He murmured,
then eased himself back on the bed. "Deep...deep..." The next words
were too unintelligible to make out.
Tavia stood up and shook her head chuckling. She went to fetch a glass
of water and put it on the small table next to his bed. Then she bent
to swing his legs up onto the bed.
Vandor almost literally plopped back on the bed and sighed. "Thanks
Tavia." He murmured, already almost half asleep.
"No problem," she murmured and leaned down to put up the light cover.
Then deposited a chaste kiss on his forehead. "Sleep well my friend."
"Down..down...deep...deep...down." Vandor murmured just before going
completely silent with an almost punctuated sigh.
