Persona Profile: D'miran

Writer: Estelle

Name: D'miran
Age: 18
Birthday: m6 d10
Rank: Senior Weyrling
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr

Physical Description of Persona:
D'miran has worked in the forests and lumber yards of his home hold since he was old enough to run errands and has earned a few small scars and calluses on his hands and arms, but he hasn't yet built up the full strength of the older men and is still growing into his tall, rangy frame. He has a restlessness about him, always looking for something to be doing, working or learning, that shows up in a sense of coiled energy even when he has to be still.

He has a lean, rather serious and determined face, whose sharp lines are occasionally softened by a warm smile in rare moments of relaxation, dark brows and deep amber-brown eyes. His dark hair is cut short, but grows out wavy until it's cut again. D'miran dresses plainly but neatly, and when out of dragonriding gear favours his birth hold's colours of green and grey.

Emotional Description of Persona:
D'miran has the confident manner of someone who has always had a stable, loving family around him. A striver and rule-follower, he's a strong believer in the values of honesty, hard work and personal responsibility espoused by his holder relatives. He's throwing all his effort into weyrling training, determined to do the best he can despite the circumstances. After completing his training, his hope is to be chosen for one of the high altitude wings.

Even after Impression, D'miran still has strong ties to his home hold. As a candidate, after his first hatching he divided his time between the Weyr and returning home to work when there were no eggs on the sands, and so knows less of weyrlife than many of his classmates. He's not entirely comfortable with some of the differences, but keeps those feelings to himself out of respect. On his most recent return, the presence of holdless people among his fellow candidates was an unwelcome surprise. While for his brothers and cousins, becoming a dragonrider was an idle daydream, D'miran has longed for it since a young age. He was deeply honoured to be chosen by his dragon, and resents the fact that half of his clutch went to people who seem unworthy. When he's frustrated, he can be hot-tempered and act impulsively, and he's slow to change his mind once he's made it up.

History of Persona:
Damiran comes from a prosperous holder family who settled in Opal Cove Hold territory early in the Interval. His home, Peridot Grove, is located a few days' travel north from the main Hold and a short distance inland from a small sea hold. The holders make a living from supplying wood to the shipbuilding craft, herding and as a convenient stop for traders and runners on the route to Amber Hills. The family has ties to the Opal Cove Lord Holders with several intermarriages over the generations, and when Lord Eiwyn opened his Hold to Search, they did the same, beginning a tradition of welcoming dragonriders. One of Damiran's uncles was chosen in that first Search and Impressed a green, and was a particular hero to the young boy. His determination to live a life as admirable as his uncle's only increased when the man was killed fighting Thread five Turns into the Pass.

A few Turns later, Damiran was Searched and accepted enthusiastically. Failing to Impress at his first hatching was a hard blow, but he kept on trying, and he was rewarded at the age of eighteen when he was chosen by blue Elamith and became D'miran. But he would be joining the infamous class from Galgaith's clutch, half made up of holdless...

Dragon's Name: Elamith
Dragon's Age: 0
Dragon's Hatching Date: m12 d14
Dragon's Colour: Blue
Description of Dragon:
Elamith has a calm temper and thoughtful manner which complement his rider's more intense and driven personality. Although he does his best to dutifully follow his training, as a young dragon he's playful and very curious about the world around him, and can be tempted by distractions. He has a strong, sturdy build, a little less agile than most blues but steadier in the tough Dragonsfall weather conditions. His colouring is a vibrant winter sky-blue, shading paler under his wings and neck.
